Agility is the skill most players love to hate: constant clicking, run energy, and long grinds. But between the Brimhaven Agility Arena and the Wilderness Agility Course, you can choose between a minigame-style ticket hunt and a high-risk lap course with real supply rewards. This guide compares XP rates, marks, ironman supplies, and the honest time-to-goal for each.

Requirements and Unlocks

Requirements:
  • Brimhaven Agility Arena: no level to enter, 200 coins fee paid to Cap'n Izzy No-Beard; level 20 Agility for pressure pad and floor spike obstacles, level 40 for spinning blades and darts.
  • Wilderness Agility Course: level 52 Agility (boostable) to enter, level 49 (boostable) to complete the first obstacle inside.
  • Recommended: weight-reducing clothing (0 kg or lower), Karamja gloves 2+ for Brimhaven, food, energy potions, and for Wilderness a looting bag if using the dispenser.

Neither course requires a diary or quest, but Brimhaven benefits massively from the Karamja Diary. Karamja gloves 2, 3, or 4 give a 10% boost to Agility experience from obstacles in the arena and a 10% bonus when trading in tickets. The elite Karamja Diary adds a 10% chance to receive two tickets and vouchers per tag, plus a small flat XP bonus per hour. Wilderness has no diary synergy, but its high base XP and optional dispenser loot make it attractive once you have the level.

Brimhaven Agility Arena Mechanics

The Brimhaven Agility Arena is not a lap course. Instead, 25 pillars are connected by Agility obstacles, and 24 of them contain a Ticket Dispenser. Every minute, one dispenser activates. Your goal is to reach that dispenser and tag it before it moves. Tagging awards 30 Agility experience for every 10 Agility levels you have (including boosts or drains), capping at 300 XP if you boost to level 100. You also receive one Agility arena ticket and one Brimhaven voucher per tag.

To maximise experience, you should constantly complete obstacles during the waiting time between dispenser changes. The floor spikes obstacle (level 20) is the fastest to spam. With elite Karamja Diary and 99 Agility, players can reach up to 68,000 Agility XP per hour by non-stop floor spikes during downtime. A more relaxed approach that only travels to active dispensers yields around 28k XP/hr at level 40, and 35k XP/hr at level 80, before the Karamja gloves bonus.

Wilderness Agility Course Mechanics

The Wilderness Agility Course is a traditional lap course deep in the Wilderness. It requires 52 Agility to enter (boostable) and 49 for the first obstacle. The course has five obstacles that must be passed in order. If you complete all of them, you get a substantial lap bonus at the end. Failing an obstacle causes damage and no lap bonus, so skilling success rate matters. Even at 99 Agility, obstacles can still be failed.

Each completed lap rewards 571.4 Agility experience before any ticket redemption. Players in the singles-plus combat zone can be attacked by player killers at any time, and there are level 18 and 25 skeletons roaming the course. The entire course is dangerous, so bring cheap food and keep an eye on your minimap.

Optionally, you can pay 150,000 coins to unlock the Agility dispenser. This fee is lost if you die or leave the course, but logging out while inside does not remove it. The dispenser rewards noted alchables and blighted items directly into an open looting bag after each lap, with loot value increasing the more consecutive laps you complete. There is also a 1/40 chance per lap to receive a medium clue scroll (1/20 with ring of wealth (i)).

Brimhaven scales very well with level and diary completion, but Wilderness starts with a higher baseline and adds a huge ticket redemption bonus. For players who do not want to constantly click obstacles between dispensers, Brimhaven can be much more relaxed, while Wilderness demands constant attention and awareness.

Marks, Vouchers, and Ironman Supplies

Important: Neither Brimhaven Agility Arena nor Wilderness Agility Course awards marks of grace. Marks of grace only come from rooftop agility courses. Brimhaven gives Brimhaven vouchers, and Wilderness gives dispenser loot if you pay the 150k fee.

Brimhaven vouchers can be traded to Pirate Jackie the Fruit for a selection of items. The key rewards are:

  • Amylase pack (60 vouchers) — contains amylase crystals, used to make stamina potions. This is a top supply for ironmen and main accounts alike.
  • Toadflax (3 vouchers) — decent herb, GE price around 2,344 coins each.
  • Snapdragon (10 vouchers) — high-level herb, GE price around 7,560 coins each.
  • Graceful outfit recolour (250 vouchers) — a cosmetic recolor for the full uncoloured graceful set, not sold on GE.
  • Pirate's hook (800 vouchers) — a rare cosmetic, GE price around 955,332 coins.

For ironmen, the amylase pack is exceptionally valuable because stamina potions require amylase crystals, which are otherwise obtained from rooftop courses (marks of grace) or by buying packs. Brimhaven offers a direct voucher route, though it is slower than high-level rooftops. The herbs are also useful, but the real long-term value is in crystals.

Wilderness dispenser loot is tailored for PvP and alching. Noted alchables include items like rune equipment, and blighted items can be used in the Wilderness or sold on the GE. For ironmen, blighted supplies are less useful unless you engage in Wilderness activities, but the medium clues and alchables still provide value. The 150k fee pays for itself after about 20 laps on average, making it a reasonable investment if you plan to stay for a while.

AFK vs Efficient Methods

Brimhaven is one of the few Agility training methods that can be semi-AFK. If you tag the active dispenser and then wait for the next one, you only click once per minute. This yields lower XP/hr (around 28k-35k depending on level), but you can do other tasks on a second account or watch videos. More efficient players spam floor spikes during downtime and can reach 68k XP/hr at 99 with elite diary.

Hybrid training is also possible: during dispenser downtime, you can fletch broad arrows. This can add up to 180,000 Fletching XP per hour while still earning Agility tickets. For account builds that need both skills, this is a strong efficient option.

Wilderness is inherently active. You run laps continuously, watch for PKers, and manage food. There is no AFK component. Efficient players complete all obstacles every lap, use energy potions, wear graceful, and keep a looting bag open for dispenser loot. The high XP/hr and decent loot make up for the risk, but it demands full attention.

Common Mistakes

  • Skipping Karamja gloves 2+ — you lose 10% XP from obstacles and 10% ticket redemption XP. Always wear them in Brimhaven.
  • Letting your HP stay high in Brimhaven — trap damage scales with your current health. Keeping HP around 20 reduces damage significantly; small heals like chocolate cakes or baskets of strawberries are ideal.
  • Paying the Wilderness dispenser fee and then leaving the course — the 150k fee is lost if you leave or die. Only pay it if you plan to stay for an extended session.
  • Redeeming Wilderness agility tickets in small batches — always save up 101+ tickets. Redeeming 101+ gives 230 XP per ticket instead of 200, a 15% bonus, worth up to 18.4k extra XP/hr.
  • Trying Wilderness before 52 Agility — even with boosts, you need at least 49 for the first obstacle. It is easy to waste time and supplies if you are underleveled.
  • Ignoring the Brimhaven dispenser timer — if you miss a tag because you took a slow obstacle, you lose a ticket and voucher. Learn the fast routes between pillars.
Warning: The Wilderness Agility Course is in a singles-plus combat zone. Player killers can attack you even if you are already fighting a skeleton. Always be prepared to teleport or log out, and never bring items you are not willing to lose.

Time/Cost Tradeoffs and Honest Shortcuts

Let’s put the time-to-goal in perspective. At Brimhaven, a level 40 player doing only dispenser tags earns about 28k XP/hr. To reach level 70 (737,627 XP total XP, starting from 37,224) would take roughly 25 hours. At level 80, earning 35k/hr, reaching level 90 (5,346,332 XP) from 80 (1,986,068) would take about 96 hours. With efficient floor spike spam at 99, you could cut that considerably, but most players won’t maintain that intensity for long.

Wilderness, with its 40k-45k base plus ticket bonuses, is faster. A player at 52 Agility could expect around 65k XP/hr when redeeming tickets in bulk. From 52 (123,660 XP) to 70 (737,627 XP) is about 9.5 hours. From 52 to 90 is around 80 hours, but the risk of death and loss of supplies can add setbacks.

Supplies cost very little at Brimhaven — 200 coins per entry and some food. Wilderness can cost 150k for the dispenser, plus potential losses to PKers. If you value your time at more than a few million GP per hour, buying gold to fund supplies or even purchasing an Agility boost service becomes an honest shortcut. Instead of grinding 80 hours of clicking, you could use that time to earn money or enjoy other content while a trusted provider handles the training. Always review Jagex’s rules and choose a marketplace with strong reputation and account security.

Practical Next Step

If you need marks of grace, stick to rooftop courses like Seers’ Village or Ardougne. If you want amylase crystals, Brimhaven vouchers are a solid alternative. If you want high XP and valuable loot but can handle the Wilderness, the Wilderness Agility Course is the best option once you hit 52 Agility. For a relaxed semi-AFK experience, Brimhaven is hard to beat.

Start with Brimhaven at 40 Agility to build up vouchers and get comfortable with the route. Move to Wilderness at 52 if you want faster XP and are willing to risk PvP. Or skip the grind entirely by purchasing gold for supplies or an Agility boost. The choice depends on your time, risk tolerance, and account goals.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Brimhaven Agility Arena better than Wilderness Agility Course for XP?

Wilderness is generally higher XP per hour once you include bulk ticket redemption, reaching around 65k/hr at high levels. Brimhaven can reach 68k/hr at 99 with elite diary and constant floor spike spam, but most players will find Wilderness faster. However, Wilderness has PvP risk and requires constant attention.

  • What level do I need for Wilderness Agility Course?

You need level 52 Agility (boostable) to enter the Wilderness Agility Course. The first obstacle requires level 49 Agility, also boostable. It is recommended to have at least 52 base Agility and decent food, as the course is dangerous with player killers and skeletons.

  • How do Brimhaven vouchers work?

Brimhaven vouchers are earned alongside Agility arena tickets every time you tag an active dispenser. You can trade vouchers to Pirate Jackie the Fruit for rewards like amylase packs (60 vouchers), herbs, a graceful recolour (250 vouchers), and a pirate's hook (800 vouchers). Vouchers are not affected by Karamja gloves.

  • What supplies should I bring to Brimhaven Agility Arena?

Bring 200 coins for the entry fee (more if you plan to leave and re-enter), weight-reducing clothing, Karamja gloves 2+ for the 10% XP bonus, food that heals small amounts (e.g., chocolate cakes), and energy potions or summer pies. Keeping HP around 20 reduces trap damage.

  • Is Wilderness Agility Course worth it for ironmen?

Yes, if you can handle the risk. The dispenser loot includes noted alchables and blighted items, plus medium clue scrolls at 1/40 per lap (1/20 with ring of wealth (i)). The 150k fee breaks even after about 20 laps on average. However, ironmen may find Brimhaven's amylase packs more useful for stamina potions.

  • How many tickets do I need for graceful recolour at Brimhaven?

You need 250 Brimhaven vouchers to recolour the full uncoloured graceful outfit at Brimhaven Agility Arena. This requires tagging 250 active dispensers. The recolour is cosmetic only and cannot be applied to graceful already recoloured to another style.

  • Can I AFK Brimhaven Agility Arena?

Brimhaven can be semi-AFK: tag the active dispenser, then wait up to a minute for the next one. This yields lower XP (around 28k-35k/hr depending on level) but allows you to do other tasks. For maximum XP, you must spam obstacles between dispensers, which is not AFK.
